250 Youth Graduate from DigiTruck Digital Skills Programme in Dagoretti North
Two hundred and fifty young people from Dagoretti North have taken a major step into the digital economy after graduating from an intensive digital skills programme delivered through the DigiTruck Digital Literacy Initiative.
The community-based programme focuses on strengthening employability and innovation among youth by offering hands-on training in basic ICT skills, online safety, and digital innovation.
The graduation ceremony was presided over by Hon. Beatrice Elachi, Member of Parliament for Dagoretti North, and brought together community leaders and programme partners to celebrate the achievements of the graduates.
“This graduation marks a shift from potential to possibility,” said Hon. Elachi. “Digital skills are no longer optional. They are essential for accessing jobs, building businesses, and participating in the global economy. Through the DigiTruck programme, our youth are gaining the tools and confidence they need to create sustainable livelihoods and uplift their communities.”
The DigiTruck programme is implemented by Huawei Technologies as part of its broader commitment to advancing digital inclusion in Kenya. The initiative delivers training directly within communities, targeting Form Four leavers and young jobseekers who may have limited access to digital learning opportunities.
According to Yuta Leng, Director of Public Affairs at Huawei Technologies Kenya, the programme is designed to deliver practical, long-term impact.
“Digital inclusion must lead to real outcomes,” said Leng. “By bringing skills training directly to communities, the DigiTruck empowers young people to turn knowledge into opportunity and play an active role in Kenya’s digital transformation. This graduation is a strong example of how partnerships can create lasting social and economic value.”
The DigiTruck is a solar-powered mobile classroom equipped with laptops, high-speed internet, and modern learning tools. Since its launch, the initiative has trained thousands of Kenyans, contributing to improved employability, entrepreneurship, and inclusive growth across the country.
The programme supports national efforts to build a future-ready workforce while accelerating Kenya’s digital transformation agenda.
