Equity Group Foundation and WorldQuant University Partner to Expand Access to Advanced Education in Africa
Equity Group Foundation (EGF) and WorldQuant University (WQU) have announced a strategic partnership to expand educational opportunities and drive innovation in quantitative learning across East and Central Africa.
The partnership, formalized through a memorandum of understanding signed on September 25, 2025, establishes a framework for collaboration that includes sharing technical knowledge, reviewing progress, and developing detailed action plans for joint initiatives.
EGF has long been dedicated to increasing access to education and nurturing leadership among academically gifted but financially disadvantaged youth. WQU, a U.S.-based institution, offers free, advanced education in data science and quantitative fields to learners around the world. Together, the two organizations aim to advance their shared mission of empowering young people through transformative learning.
“Through this partnership, we are uniting our strengths to empower African youth with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving global economy,” said EGF Executive Chairman Dr. James Mwangi. “By combining EGF’s expertise in transformative education programs with WQU’s innovative approach to quantitative learning, we are creating pathways for young leaders to drive meaningful change in their communities.”
Africa is already WQU’s largest market, representing 48 percent of global enrollment. The university currently has 10,200 learners across 51 African countries, nearly 2,000 of whom hold senior positions in banking, finance, education, and other sectors.
“This partnership represents a bold step toward making advanced education accessible to talented learners who might otherwise face barriers,” said WQU CEO John Endrud. “Together with EGF, we are committed to fostering a new generation of leaders equipped with cutting-edge quantitative skills to address global challenges.”
The collaboration builds on WQU’s ongoing efforts to strengthen partnerships across Africa and align education with real-world applications.
“We are thrilled to partner with EGF to amplify the impact of education across Africa,” added Gbemi Disu, WQU Senior Vice President of Global Partnerships. “This collaboration will enable us to deliver innovative educational solutions that empower learners and create lasting impact.”
