MultiChoice Talent Factory 2026 Applications Open

MultiChoice Talent Factory Opens 2026 Applications

The MultiChoice Talent Factory (MTF), a pan-African film and television training institution, has opened applications for its 2026 intake. Aspiring African directors, filmmakers, scriptwriters, producers, and storytellers are invited to apply for the fully funded programme designed to launch careers in film and TV.

Following MultiChoice’s integration into the CANAL+ Group, the organisation has renewed its focus on delivering compelling African content by investing directly in creative talent. Through MTF, young Africans with a passion for telling authentic stories are given the tools, skills, and platforms needed to amplify Africa’s voice on the global stage.

The 2026 intake features a robust, fully accredited nine-month curriculum that balances theory with hands-on experience. The programme is delivered in a hybrid format, combining interactive online learning with intensive in-person training.

With academies based in Kenya, Nigeria, and Zambia, MTF serves aspiring filmmakers from 14 African countries. Students benefit from practical industry exposure, mentorship from leading professionals, and access to valuable networks in the entertainment industry.

Since its launch in 2018, MTF has trained 296 filmmakers and supported the production of more than 42 films. During the programme, participants are required to develop and produce their own film projects, which are broadcast on DStv and GOtv channels such as Maisha Magic, Africa Magic, and Zambezi Magic, as well as on the Showmax streaming platform.

MTF alumni continue to make a strong impact across the industry. Many graduates secure roles within the MultiChoice ecosystem, while others go on to establish independent ventures. To date, more than 50 production companies have been founded by MTF alumni.

The programme’s emphasis on hyperlocal storytelling has also translated into international recognition. Graduates have earned nominations and awards at major platforms including the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, Kalasha Awards, Uganda Film Festival, and Women in Film Awards. Alumni also participate in global creative markets such as the European Film Market and Durban FilmMart.

These achievements highlight the calibre of talent produced by MTF—filmmakers equipped to compete globally while telling deeply rooted African stories that drive cultural and economic growth.

Applications for the 2026 intake close on 27 February 2026.
Interested applicants can find full programme requirements and apply at the official MultiChoice Talent Factory website.

For African creatives with ambitions in film and television, this could be the first step toward shaping the future of African entertainment.
