NCBA Strengthens Customer Engagement at the Coast

NCBA Strengthens Customer Engagement at the Coast to Unlock Growth Opportunities

NCBA Bank Kenya Managing Director, James Gossip, has concluded a three-day leadership engagement at the Coast, connecting directly with customers, partners, and staff across Ukunda, Nyali, and Mombasa. The visit provided a platform for open dialogue and reinforced NCBA’s commitment to customer-focused growth in one of Kenya’s most dynamic economic regions.

The Coast region remains a vital part of Kenya’s economy, driven by tourism, port operations, maritime services, and trade. About 45 percent of the area’s economic activity is linked to tourism, while maritime and port operations contribute roughly 15 percent. According to the latest Gross County Product (GCP) report by the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics, Mombasa County contributes about 4.8 percent to Kenya’s national gross value add, positioning it among the top four county economies in the country. This underscores the region’s growing potential as a hub for trade, logistics, hospitality, and business.

Speaking during the engagement, NCBA Kenya Managing Director James Gossip said, “The Coast Region represents one of Kenya’s most important economic corridors, and our presence here is about creating meaningful partnerships that unlock customer potential. At NCBA, we believe progress starts with listening to our customers, communities, and people, so we can design solutions that truly make a difference in their lives.”

As part of its growth strategy, NCBA has been advancing both retail and corporate banking solutions. The bank has expanded its branch network to over 100 locations nationwide, improving access in both urban and regional markets. On the corporate side, NCBA recently launched NCBA ConnectPlus, a next-generation transaction banking platform built on cloud technology that enhances transaction processing, strengthens security, and improves liquidity management for corporate and SME clients.

NCBA has also increased investment in digital banking, with mobile and online platforms driving more than 30 percent growth in digital loan disbursements year-on-year. This aligns with the bank’s ambition to bring banking closer to customers through technology and convenience. Additionally, the bank has adopted a sector-focused engagement model, with specialized teams serving key industries such as agriculture, trade, logistics, energy, technology, and manufacturing—sectors critical to Kenya’s economic transformation.

“Our mission is to be more than just a financial institution. As we deepen our relationships at the Coast and across the country, we aim to empower businesses, inspire ambition, and ensure that every customer who banks with NCBA feels heard and supported,” added Mr. Gossip.

Through these ongoing engagements, NCBA continues to strengthen its relationships with customers and explore new ways to support the Coast’s vibrant business community.
