How Tusker Malt Made Nairobi Polo a Canvas for High Fashion, Craft and Culture
The Nairobi Polo Grounds came alive over the weekend as the Lagos Incoming Tour blended sport, craft, and high fashion in an event that drew both polo enthusiasts and lifestyle lovers. What was once a quiet sport for a select few has now evolved into one of Nairobi’s most anticipated social events, where style meets sport and culture.
Polo in Nairobi has become more than a game. It’s now a meeting point for people who appreciate elegance, craftsmanship, and a good weekend out. While the ponies raced and teams from Nairobi Club and Lagos Club battled for the Simon Kuseyo Memorial Cup, the sidelines were filled with fashion, laughter, and music.
Despite the chilly weather, attendance was strong, with the clubhouse and the Tusker Malt experience area buzzing with energy.
“Polo in Kenya is evolving. It’s no longer just an exclusive sport; it’s a space where sport, style, and social connection meet. More Kenyans are showing up to experience and engage with a scene that celebrates both craft and premium experiences by taste and design,” said Rediet Yigezu, Acting Head of Marketing, Premium Beers at Kenya Breweries Limited (KBL).
Tusker Malt has continued to position itself as a brand that celebrates craftsmanship and dedication to quality — values reflected in its brewing process, which takes twice as long as standard beers. This commitment to craft has made the brand a natural fit for events that celebrate fashion, design, and artistry.
At the event, Tusker Malt set up two craft lounges that showcased local talent. Fashion entrepreneur Sue Mueni of Sued Watches and leather craftsman Tedd Josiah of Joka Jok shared their creative process, giving guests a first-hand look at the patience and mastery that go into their work.
“The partnership with Malt has been a constant reminder of why I love the process of creating. It’s in the act of piecing small details of art together that true craft is made. What I do, and the principles that Malt stands on, reflect what my brand has been built on for the past seven years,” said Sue Mueni.
Tusker Malt’s involvement in polo has been consistent throughout the year. Earlier, during the Soldier Salute Polo Tournament in January, the brand partnered with fashion designer Bevern Oguk of BOGUK, who showcased capsule pieces inspired by the sport. The designs included kimonos, pantsuits, blazers, scarves, and the signature BOGUK hat — a collection that merged refined fashion with cultural storytelling.
By blending sport, art, and design, Tusker Malt continues to redefine the polo experience in Kenya, turning it into a vibrant celebration of lifestyle and local talent.
